Yesterday, one of my friends and classmate in humanities posted a very hopeful and truly positive blog post about the importance of prayer.
An anonymous person commented at how this country doesn't need prayers, but it needs actions. Surely, from what I can surmise, this person may not believe in the power that prayers hold. Since my reply to this person is going to be lengthy, I just decided to post it here on my blog rather than comment :)
So what does this country really need? Besides love, of course ;)
Dear Anonymous #1,
I must agree that this country needs a lot of action, for what is prayer without action? However, please do not conclude that prayer is not needed at all.
What is action without direction? Believe or not, prayers give our actions a sort of direction. If not "prayer", then a wish or an aspiration - which can be, in a sense, tantamount, wouldn't you agree?
Having said that, to whom to we ultimately address our deepest wishes and aspirations? A higher Being would answer that. Does God sound familiar?
Unless you're an aetheist of course. But you must agree though that your deepest aspirations shape the way you go about things. It is a universally human thing, I should think.
In a way, prayer is the only thing that works because it gives our actions a direction.
You're right, action is needed for our country. And equally needed are prayers. I hope you have not lost the will to pray, it does wonders - one way or another :)
Sincerely,
Nikki
I agree, in some way prayer is the only thing that works. Prayer is what will give us direction, let us understand our goals and how much we want to achieve them. Prayer makes us stronger.
