I opted not to write this on my multiply blog because... This entry will be a serious one. Hehe. Anyway, lots of people have written their angst, their grievances, and what have you on the recently transpired deaths. I suppose the reason why I only write now is because, I am only starting to recover from disbelief. The news shocked me so.
Film class was a different experience. I had one cut, and I remember that it's because I was having a bad day. After that, though, I never cut because coming inside the film classroom meant an exotic film and an intensive discussion on, more often not the technicalities and elements, but the story and message of it. However much I disliked several of the films we watched because of their pretentiousness, I enjoyed the class tremendously. I stepped out having new rants and raves, having clutters of debate in my head about art and film. I found his teaching methods disagreeable because he did not give enough time for the concepts and elements of film, but he still did give time and that boosted my interest in the subject even more. Despite that, I learned quite a lot. The discussions on each film made a much more lasting memory than the films themselves.
I always said to myself that if I become a teacher, I would only want to teach two subjects: Literature and Film. And I would like to think that my desire to teach these subjects were heavily inspired by the experience I had having been a student in those classrooms.
Thank you for making that semester interesting and worth noting. No one deserves the injustice that they did to you and your love. You will be missed very much so. I still stand firm that the 11-hour film can not be compared alongside the great Sistine Chapel. And yes, I also wish that Star Cinema would stop... Just... Stop. Rest in peace, sir.
And yes, it sucks that people would do such a thing so undue and just... wrong. I hate it. Sigh. I hope justice will make them pay with interest.
